Morse High School is proud to announce this year’s recipients of the Maine Seal of Biliteracy. This is the first year that the Maine Department of Education has participated in this recognition of student achievement in language learning. The award is given to graduating seniors who demonstrate a high degree of skill in both English and at least one other language. The Seal seeks to encourage students to pursue biliteracy and recognizes the positive cognitive and academic benefits of being bilingual. Recipients who choose to attend college within the University of Maine system will receive eight college credits.
This year’s recipients for excellence in English and Spanish are Elsa Bertlesman, Mia Garza, Christian Keenan, Ella Martin, and Zach Lay. Eva Machnitzky has received the Seal for excellence in English and German.
